Following the successful launch of The UK Corporate Golf Championship (12th September 2017) on the 2010 course at Celtic Manor, we are now looking forward to the 2018 event on The PGA Centenary course at Gleneagles (9th October 2018). The 2017 event saw 66 golfers competing in the championship event and the sponsors shotgun event. Team champions were Asbri Golf, Pairs champions were Newtown Motors and Individual champion was Glyn Davies (Newtown Motors). The event was co-hosted by World Trick Shot Champion Geoff Swain, who also gave a demonstration of his skills. Other highlights were SignatureHoleExperience on the 10th hole, which captured each individual tee shot and produced a nearest the pin live leader board. Phil Morgan won himself a Morgan car for a weekend for hitting it to within 3 ft.
The UK Corporate Golf Championship is a registered trademark, and the event will be held each year at a Ryder Cup Venue within the UK and Ireland. The venue for 2018 is Gleneagles (PGA Centenary course), and subsequent events will be held at The Belfry and The K Club. National qualifying events will be held each year on Top 100 courses in England, Wales, Scotland and Ireland, and The UK Corporate Golf Championship final will be held on the Ryder Cup course at the host venue.
The format for the event combines serious golf competition (The UK Corporate Golf Championship event) with business networking and client entertainment (Sponsors Shotgun event).
The Championship event is open to pairs and teams of 4 golfers from UK based companies, with official handicaps required. In the pairs event both scores count, and in the team event all 4 scores count. Maximum handicap is 24 and maximum allowance is 75%. There is also a trophy for the leading individual. The scoring system is Stableford points. The Championship final is played over 18 holes.
The sponsors shotgun event allows sponsors to entertain clients and guests with no requirement for official handicaps.
